This weekend, I’ll be with several people in my world who are all, in different ways, walking through difficult moments with aging parents.

A move into a senior residence.
A sudden fall and a broken hip that changes what’s possible.
A long goodbye… and a funeral.

Different stories, but the same feeling, a mix of love, responsibility, and overwhelm.

When Everything Changes at Once

In these moments, what matters most is being present. Sitting together. Making space for what’s happening.

But very quickly, the practical side begins to surface.

There are suddenly more decisions to make, more responsibilities to manage, and often very little time or energy to handle it all.

The home.
The belongings.
The next steps.

And often, these decisions arrive at a time when families are already emotionally and mentally exhausted.

The Hidden Weight Families Carry

What many people don’t anticipate is how complex this stage can become.

It’s not just about logistics, it’s about memories, identity, and letting go.

Sorting through a lifetime of belongings.
Preparing a home for sale.
Making decisions no one feels ready to make.

All while navigating grief, change, and uncertainty.

Why Support Matters

This is where the right support can make all the difference.

Not just to manage the practical steps, but to bring clarity and calm to a situation that often feels overwhelming.

Having someone who understands both the emotional and logistical sides helps families move forward with confidence, and without added stress.

One Step at a Time

This is the part of my work that matters most to me.

Being there not just for the decisions, but for the people living through them.

Helping families navigate change with clarity, compassion, and practical guidance.

Because in moments like these, no one should have to figure it all out alone.

If you or someone close to you is going through this, know that support is available, one step at a time.
